How to Get Involved as a Freshman

Student Organizations

• Louisiana State University offers a diverse variety of organizations for students looking to get involved.
• There are currently over 400 student organizations. These include different sports teams, clubs about diversity, major specific clubs, greek life, and volunteer opportunities

Look Out for Emails

• At first, it is hard to get in the habit of checking your email multiple times a day, but you get used to it. And boy, is it worth it! There are so many opportunities available through emails from LSU.

Ask Your Senior College

• Make sure to find out where your senior college is located. You can give them a visit and ask about options for getting involved.
• Also, you can take a look at your Senior College’s website to look for opportunities.  

Free Speech Alley

• The LSU Student Union is the center for social life as a student. Most of the time, to get to the union students have to walk through free speech alley. Clubs and different organizations hold table sits in free speech alley to promote their activities and encourage students to get involved. So definitely be on the lookout for those!

• You can visit the Olinde Career Center located on the first floor of the student union.
